The consequences of mechanical resonance are very closely related to electrical isolation, both have direct implications to dynamics and harmonics, that is why electrical isolation should be considered together with mechanical resonance.As discussed in Synergy Creation section, the cleaner the power is, the more dynamic and neutral the system will perform. Usually, audiophiles try to achieve a clean power through power filters. In my opinion, most of the filters kill the dynamics in the expense of an improved soundstage. In very pure systems, it is possible to witness a significant loss of harmonics and dynamics. How about using cheap ferrites on the mains? They would work but would not – in reality – purify the blood of the system. I personally prefer a combination of hyper-pure copper, silver and gold combination of wires, and do not prefer to use any conditioners. There are some products in the market who manufacture multiple outlets with alloy-wires which serves perfectly for the high-end system. For the low-budget systems, just use a well-shielded copper wire (minimum 13 Awg) on the mains. With reasonably priced terminations, good powercords may be manufactured from copper as well. The use of silver by itself may sonically be very dangerious, and usually results in losing the essentical ‘body’ of the instruments. |
